Welcome to my website. I’m excited to share some of my thoughts on writers and books who have made a big impression on my work over the years.  I’m not sure why, but I’ve always been drawn to a combination of fantasy and realism. I grew up reading Tolkien, Ray Bradbury, Madeleine L’Engle, Dickens, and Wilkie Collins, and lately I’ve been reading Maggie Stiefvater, Neil Gaiman, Philip Pullman, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Stephen King, and Emily St. John Mandel, all of whom spin the most thrilling fantasy. But I’m also in awe of writers whose talent lies in their ability to tell stories set firmly in the real world and still mesmerize the reader, such as Jenny Han, Colson Whitehead, Gabrielle Zevin, and John Green. The Spell Casters series, which I co-wrote with Holly Hughes, is a middle grade series that features magic in the real world, the mix that I find most compelling. Similarly, I wrote Hounded by Baskervilles, Sabrina the Teenage Witch book about a talkative basset hound who meets Sherlock Holmes at Sabrina's college.

I also love animals, and when I was a kid I devoured books on them. Now I just have them in real life. This crayon picture of my dog I drew while waiting for food at a restaurant.
